SoftballBC-logoSooke Minor Fastball is hosting their provincial championships in Sooke fromJuly 10th to 12th. With 180 players confirmed, who are all traveling with families since they are U12 and U16 aged boys, plus visiting teams staying locally, we would like to encourage local spending in our shops and restaurants.
The committee is in the process of compiling ‘welcome bags’ for every player and requested participation from local businesses to supply a free item or a discounted coupon to include in each bag.

Scouts Canada, will be hosting a large-scale event this July at Camp Barnard with daily excursions to Sooke and the surrounding area. The Pacific Jamboree 2015 anticipates approximately 3000 people to be in attendance starting July 1st, one week prior to the event.  The event will take place from July 11th to 18th, 2015. Twenty school buses have been hired to tour the region.  This event is communicated to our members to be prepared for the influx of visitors to Sooke. RRU Peacock

Royal Roads University (RRU) is pleased to offer you an opportunity to be coached by one of their Executive Coaching students as part of their final exam process.  The intention of these coaching sessions/panels is for students to demonstrate the International Coach Federation competencies learned during the Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching program.

Located at RRU Learning and Innovation Centre at 2005 Sooke Road on August 5 or 6, 2015, your time commitment is approximately 1 hour broken down as follows:

  • 10 minute introduction with your student coach
  • 30 minute coaching session
  • 15 minute debrief with our panel

These sessions are available to working professionals with a real business challenge based on a current business issue.  

There is no cost to participate. To comply with the International Coach Federation Confidentiality Code of Ethics, your coaching session will be kept confidential.

Miss Kayla Curtis, the 2015 graduating class' valedictorian, who was the proud recipient awarded with the 
2015 Sooke Region Chamber of Commerce EMCS (Edward Milne Community School)Scholarship during the graduation ceremony on Saturday June 6, 2015 at the University of Victoria.

Principal Pat Swinburnson said to an audience of 1,000 people or so, “An important part of the ceremony is dedicated to awarding the scholarships and bursaries. This is due in part to the generous support of the community of Sooke, some of whom are represented in the audience today. We are very fortunate to have so many service groups, school parent advisory councils, businesses, agencies and individuals awarding scholarships and bursaries worth many tens of thousands of dollars for post-secondary training.”
