Many people are not aware that non-profit credit counselling societies receive 70% or more of their funding from credit card companies, banks, and other creditors. Since they are primarily funded by creditors, it is their interest that they protect. While they are non-profit, they do charge monthly fees to the Debtor. It is essential to have someone on your side, who is working for you and your long term interests, while you go through this process. The decisions you make will have a long term impact on your life. Badger Transport has its focus in two key areas: Companies who already move freight but require more trucks or where the trucks they have break down or when drivers become unavailable.
Badger Transport can service these clients with little extra work on the clients end because our drivers are knowledgeable and experienced with the local trucking industry, such as; where these clients docks are located, routes to get there and a positive rapport with the receivers.
All that is usually required is a trailer number, time and a to and from address. With this simple approach Badger Transport can take a disastrous problem like having a broken truck with no driver to load delivered on time in nothing but a 5 minute phone call!
Why choose us?

Every day of our lives we are pulled in all different directions. We wear so many hats, juggle so many roles that it is sometimes hard to keep up. From the moment you walk through her door, Louise aims to provide a tranquil, safe space for you to switch off and reconnect to your inner self, a place to heal, and recharge.
Louise is the owner and practitioner here at Bloom Wellness. Her interest in holistic living started running barefoot in her Grandmothers' gardens. Louise has a deep connection to nature, a connection that she can always fall back on to nourish herself and others.
Alongside raising her five sons and growing a large amount of their organic food, Louise took her Foot Reflexology certificate in 2012 and loved it so much that it sparked a continuing journey of learning more about healing practices. Eleven years later, Louise holds a Diploma of Arts and Science, a Diploma of Acupuncture and is certified in Indian Head Massage, Mei Zen Facial Protocols, Acusculpting Cosmetic Acupuncture, Channel Examination and Diagnosis and Qi Dynamics and Deepening Skills.
Her treatments are multi-faceted, incorporating traditional acupuncture techniques, auricular acupuncture, Gua-Sha, Cupping, Moxa and Tui-Na where appropriate, alongside offering self-care techniques and dietary information. She fully trusts each individual’s innate power to heal their self and simply offers a gentle nudge here and there to allow that process to get back into alignment.
Further, Louise has secured direct billing for several extended health benefit programs including acupuncture. NEW!
Louise has treated a wide range of health concerns not limited too but including, high blood pressure, chronic pain, diabetes and neuropathy, musculoskeletal issues, menstrual cycle disorders, mental and emotional distress and allergies. There is no better compliment than a patient getting back to their normal activities and daily routines happy, healthy and pain free.

The Butler Brothers Family
A part of the rich heritage of the Saanich Peninsula and continuing to play a key role in the development of Vancouver Island Communities.
Although Butler Brothers Supplies Ltd. was incorporated in 1954, the Butler family has been a part of the History of the Saanich Peninsula since Captain George Stephen Butler began farming there in 1868.
The 'Butler Brothers' of the company name were Claude, Wally, Tom and Eric, all grandchildren of the Captain. Claude Butler, who was president of the company for quite a few years, passed away in 1986. Wally, the second brother, passed away in 1992. The company is now under the leadership of the Captain's great-grandson, Brian Butler.
The brothers were doing business of the island before the Second World War, when they were engaged in logging and the sale of gravel. In the late 1940s they built a small store to handle the sale of a limited selection of building materials. Following this, in the early 1950s, they became involved in the manufacture and sale of ready-mix concrete.
Today, Butler Brothers Supplies Ltd. has three gravel pits in operation - Keating Cross Road, Sooke and Duncan - and sells ready-mix concrete from Keating Cross Road, Bay Street in Victoria and Sooke.

BC’s First Private TV Station Celebrates 60 Years in Broadcasting
At 5pm on December 1, 1956 CHEK-TV, B.C.’s first privately owned television station and affiliate of the CBC network, hit the airwaves. Over the next six decades, the station’s identity, logo design and network affiliations changed numerous times, until in September of 2009, CHEK became North America’s first and only employee-owned television station.
In the last 60-years the evolution of CHEK has come full circle. Live television of the past gave way to film, videotape and satellite feeds, only to find its way back to the energy and spontaneity of ‘live’ news broadcasts. Throughout the station’s incredible history it has continued to produced popular local programs relevant to viewers on Vancouver Island. Most of the station-produced programs in the early days were primarily entertainment shows such as the TV House Party Show in 1956, the Ida Clarkson Show from 1962 to 1991 and Club 6 where local teens could come and try the latest dance moves every afternoon ‘live’ in the CHEK studio located on Epsom Drive in Victoria. From the days of CHEK-TV’s founding father Charlie White to the present-day employee-owners, CHEK has a rich legacy of producing local news, weather and sports as well as information programming including the current crop of productions like Cookin’ on The Coast hosted by Garrett Schack, The Wealthy Life with Sybil Verch, Trend with Amy McGeachy and of course the time-honoured CHEK Around with Gordie Tupper, to highlight just a few.
Over the past six decades, CHEK has grown to meet the ever-changing needs of advertisers and audiences. Gone are the days of live commercials, where the message was more important than the length. Today, CHEK’s award winning Creative Services department captures an advertiser’s message in a precise highly-crafted, 30 or 15 second spot that is often complimented by on-line advertising.
CHEK has been part of the fabric of the communities it serves since 1956, and continues to provide viewers with compelling and comprehensive news coverage from all across Vancouver Island seven days a week. Giving back has also been a major part of the station’s 60-year history. CHEK continues to dedicate its people, airtime and resources to countless events and causes.
Thank you for watching and supporting CHEK! Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Since 1988, we have provided comprehensive eye health and optical services to the community of Sooke and surrounding areas.
We are a team of doctors and certified staff that work together to provide you with a great experience in a caring environment. Whether it is expert eye care services, an annual eye exam, or choosing the perfect pair of lenses, our friendly and professional staff is always here to assist you.
Eye exams aren’t just for glasses and contacts. During your comprehensive eye exam, our doctors will not only assess your vision but also your ocular health using the latest technology. A routine eye exam can detect ocular diseases, like glaucoma, and diseases of the body, like diabetes and multiple sclerosis. Early detection is key when it comes to the eyes, as many eye conditions will go unnoticed until it’s too late. In general, it is recommended that kids have yearly eye exams starting at 6 months and adults have eye exams every 1-2 years depending on age, medical status, and eye conditions.

We began as a group of parents, educators and caregivers in the Sooke area. We were excited at the prospect of providing programs and services in our own area for families with children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities. In October 1998, Sooke Options for Community Living Association was incorporated and registered as a non-profit organization. Over the years our Board of Directors, members and employees have worked together to establish a summer day camp for children with disabilities, an adult day program and a support group for families and caregivers. In the future we hope to set up a staffed respite home.
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Norman began his violin studies when he was 10 years old. At the age of 15 he won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music in London and at 20 was appointed to a position in the first violin section of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. He has held the position of Assistant Concertmaster with the Royal Philharmonic, Philharmonia, BBC Symphony and London Symphony orchestras. He was a founding member of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, the most recorded chamber orchestra in the world. In 1965 Norman was appointed Concertmaster of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. He also formed the internationally acclaimed Purcell String Quartet. He has appeared as soloist with many orchestras, including the London Symphony, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, BBC Symphony and Vancouver Symphony. As a chamber musician, he has performed in every major city in North America, and in Europe, Russia, Japan and China.
In 1979 Norman was appointed Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at the University of Alberta in Edmonton and the leader of the University String Quartet. In 2007 he was awarded the Orchestras Canada Betty Webster Award for his sustained and significant contribution to the Canadian orchestral community. In May 2012, Norman was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, which honours outstanding Canadians whose achievements have benefited their fellow citizens.
Norman and his wife Jenny live on Vancouver Island. Norman continues to be an active player, teacher and conductor.
Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra
This community orchestra, with more than 60 members, was founded by Norman Nelson in 1997 and performed its first symphony concert in June 1998. With the subsequent introduction of the Sooke Philharmonic Chamber Players and the Sooke Philharmonic Chorus, the concert season now features four programs (eight concerts) plus the ever-popular Philharmonic “Fling”, an open air pops concert performed each summer. In addition, small ensembles perform regularly at community events and fundraisers.
As part of our commitment to support and encourage young musicians, the Sooke Philharmonic Society sponsors the annual Don Chrysler Concerto Competition for Young Musicians. The winner performs with the orchestra at the Celebration of Young Artists concerts in the fall.
Each year, our week-long Sooke Harbour Chamber Music Workshop attracts musicians from Canada, the U.S. and Britain.
Through the efforts of Maestro Nelson and the musicians and supported by many dedicated volunteers, the Sooke Philharmonic has grown to become the major musical presence it is today.
Sooke Philharmonic Chorus
Are you a singer? Have you ever wanted to sing with a live orchestra? The Sooke Philharmonic Chorus is looking for more members. We rehearse on Saturday mornings from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. For more information, please call Lynda Rose at 250-642-3536 or email Lynda: email@example.com
The chorus began as the Sooke Festival Chorus, performing in the millennium Sooke Festival of Performing Arts under the direction of Christopher Symons. After two seasons, it became the Sooke Philharmonic Chorus in 2002, with Mary Wolfe (Holland) as Choral Director.
Now under the direction of Nicholas Fairbank, this auditioned group of approximately 30 singers performs classical repertoire with the Sooke Philharmonic Chamber Players twice a year.
After early studies in B.C., Nicholas Fairbank pursued further musical training in London, England and Paris, France. He holds Masters degrees from the Université de Paris (musicology and French literature), the University of California at Santa Barbara (French language and pedagogy), and the University of Victoria (music composition), as well as Associateship diplomas from the Royal Conservatory of Music (gold medal winner for pipe organ, 1981) and the Royal Canadian College of Organists (Willan and Barker prizes 1998), of which he was the National President from 2012-2014.
Established in Victoria since 1995, he keeps busy as a conductor, and in this capacity has worked with many Victoria-area choirs and orchestras, including the Linden Singers, the Victoria Choral Society, and the Civic Orchestra. He is currently Artistic Director of the Via Choralis Chamber Choir and Director of Music at First Unitarian Church of Victoria.
He is also on the faculty of the Victoria Conservatory of Music, where he teaches organ and harpsichord, and he performs regularly both as organ soloist and as a collaborative musician and continuo player. As a recitalist he has toured across the country as well as performing in Europe and in Mexico.
Mr. Fairbank is an established composer whose catalogue of compositions includes more than 80 works for organ and piano solo, voice, and various choral and instrumental ensembles.
