History - The Butler Brothers Family
A part of the rich heritage of the Saanich Peninsula and continuing to play a key role in the development of Vancouver Island Communities.
Although Butler Brothers Supplies Ltd. was incorporated in 1954, the Butler family has been a part of the History of the Saanich Peninsula since Captain George Stephen Butler began farming there in 1868.
The 'Butler Brothers' of the company name were Claude, Wally, Tom, and Eric, all grandchildren of the Captain. Claude Butler, who was president of the company for quite a few years, passed away in 1986. Wally, the second brother, passed away in 1992. The company is now under the leadership of the Captain's great-grandson, Brian Butler.
The brothers were doing business on the island before the Second World War when they were engaged in logging and the sale of gravel. In the late 1940s, they built a small store to handle the sale of a limited selection of building materials. Following this, in the early 1950s, they became involved in the manufacture and sale of ready-mix concrete.

After 48 years, we decided to expand our services and relocate to Sooke to be closer to the water and our customers. We consider this part of a growth process of service. Our goal is to offer all that a boater needs or wants in boating services and specialties.
Jenkins Marine has a repair shop that provides both preventive and restorative maintenance. Anytime between spring tune-ups and fall winterization, our technicians can handle anything from system repairs and installations to upgrades.
The Small Boat Division of Jenkins Marine Ltd. is located on Erskine Lane, behind the Victoria General Hospital. The View Royal Shop specializes in fiberglass, gel coat, paint services, and repairs, including interpreted and bottom paint applications, from small chips to major damage. We also do custom-built swim grids, aluminum engine pods, kicker brackets, and other add-ons. As well as all interior and exterior modifications, repairs and replacement of transoms, stringers, and floors, and installation of marine electronics.
Our Commercial Division has trained, experienced, and professional carpenters, shipwrights, electricians, painters, welders (CWB certified for aluminum and steel), and fabricators. We have experience in building custom boats, complete refits, interior and exterior renovations, as well as the installation, regular maintenance, and repairs to all structural, mechanical, and electrical components of fishing and pleasure vessels, tugboats, barges, ferries, and all other marine craft.
Don's Boat Transport: We offer insured transportation of all boats, power or sail, from 6 to 70 feet. We specialize in complex moves that require years of experience and attention to detail. On or off Vancouver Island we have the trailers and the staff to move your boat safely and securely wherever you like.
Last but not least, we manufacture high-quality 24' sports fishing vessels under our Sea West Boats Division.

Interior.From Vancouver’s busy harbour to the remote waters of the North Coast, our volunteer crews are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ready to respond to marine emergencies. We conduct, on average, 800 marine rescues every year.
