The Sooke Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the appointment of Deb Schenk as its new Executive Director, effective Thursday, October 5th. Deb brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to community service, making her an ideal leader for the chamber.
Deb Schenk has been an integral part of the Sooke community for the past 15 years, dedicating her time and expertise to various volunteer organizations. Her passion for community development and her hands-on experience make her an excellent fit for the role of Executive Director.
With two decades of management experience in office settings, Deb has honed her skills in organizational leadership, strategic planning, and community engagement. Her dynamic approach and proven track record make her well-equipped to guide the Sooke Chamber of Commerce toward new heights of success.
Notably, Deb has served as the South Vancouver Island Shoebox for Women Coordinator for the past five years, demonstrating her commitment to initiatives that positively impact the lives of others. Her experience in coordinating such impactful programs showcases her dedication to community welfare.
In line with this transition, the Sooke Chamber of Commerce will be implementing new office hours under Deb’s leadership. The office will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and appointments can be scheduled on Fridays.
This change comes as Britt Santowski, the outgoing Executive Director, embarks on a new and exciting chapter in her career with the BC Government in communications. The Sooke Chamber of Commerce extends its heartfelt gratitude to Britt for her four years of dedicated service to both the chamber and the community of Sooke. While she steps into a new role, Britt will continue to contribute her expertise as a volunteer.
