Sooke Region Chamber unveils the Hidden Treasures website, where visitors can win a $200 shopping spree while promoting the “shop local” message

The Sooke Region Chamber of Commerce has just unveiled a Hidden Treasures website as a part of a campaign to encourage local and near-local residents to explore the many hidden treasures available right here in Sooke.

There are a number of ways local residents and Sooke businesses can help promote this campaign.

1. Visit us on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/sookeshiddentreasures/). There you will see nine tiles that collectively create a map of Sooke. Give your favourite (or your own) business a shout-out on the map tile upon which your business lives.
2. Visit our website (https://sookeshiddentreasures.ca/). There, you can browse photos of many hidden treasures available throughout Sooke.
3. Answer 12 questions on a survey (https://sookeshiddentreasures.ca/#contest-form) and include your favourite hidden treasure for a chance to win a $200 shopping spree in Sooke.
4. Give the campaign a shout-out on any social media site using the hashtag #SookesHiddenTreasures and post your latest or your favourite local hidden treasure. If it’s a local business, remember to tag them, they will appreciate that extra local promotion!
5. Keep your eyes out of other #SookesHiddenTreasures, like say, in your mailbox or on your TV during CHEK News later this month.

“This pandemic has affected every single one of us, either directly or indirectly,” says Karen Mason, president of the Sooke Region Chamber of Commerce. “The Sooke Chamber would like to offset this heavy load by boasting of the many hidden treasures available in Sooke. We invite everyone who loves Sooke to visit, promote, share, and participate. And, who knows, you may even get a beautiful postcard mailed to your very own home sometime in the next month or so.”

The Sooke Region Chamber of Commerce received $39,677 grant funding from the Shop Local BC program. The Sooke Chamber is launching the Sooke’s Hidden Treasures Campaign, a campaign conceived in collaboration with the District of Sooke, WorkLink BC, the Sooke Region Tourism and Association (SRTA), the Sooke Lions and the Sooke Harbourside Lions. The campaign includes television ads on CHEK TV, postcards sent to every home in the region, and information rack cards on BC Ferries.

The Shop Local BC program is supported by the Government of Canada’s Strategic Activities Program, administered by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, and delivered through the BC Chamber of Commerce.
